    Oil Testing Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjT3B9r2z3fXlvbP3tb9e056Q8O5krrCW

I purchased all of the oils tested and am not sponsored by any of the brands tested, nor do I sell any of the products tested. The testing methods outlined in this video are my own and not performed using expensive oil lab testing equipment or following the ASTM, SAE or API testing standards. The three tests outlined in the video include tests for viscosity at varying temperatures, film strength, and evaporative testing. In my opinion, the testing approaches used in this video provide consumers with valuable information on choosing the right motor oil for their specific application. So I have been using Mobil 1 in my 2019 Corvette in a 0w-40 ESP dexos 2. I’m thinking of switching to Amsoil 0w-40 signature series. Do you believe Amsoil 0w-40 signature series to be superior to that Mobil 1?

My engine thanks you for taking the time to perform these tests and share them with us. It is hard to trust what the manufacturers say these days and this shows true unbiased real world tests.

I thought of something, how about you try some frankenblend oil (amsoil/Kendall mix or more) and other mixes and see if they can outperform a solitary, brand like just amsoil. That would be pretty cool. 😎

I'll bet on Amsoil. When i ride a Japanese motorcycle, and the engine and gears use the same oil, the amsoil always feels more slippery and the gear change takes less effort.Liquid titanium??? WTF??? why not LIQUID DIAMONDS????

Have you considered a test of amsoil Sabre oil , which claims to be able to run all ratios of 2-cycle engines at 100:1.

Can you do a motorcycle specific oil test? How about AMSOIL Synthetic Metric Motorcycle Oil 10w-40 against Motul 300V 10w-40 Synthetic Ester Motorcycle Oil and other brands of motorcycle specific oils.

I just bought new jeep compass with 2.4 liter multi air which uses oil pressure to operate intake valves. My question is do you think amsoil and using best line mixed would be a good result or do more damage than good ?

Like to see how AMSOIL XL which is cheaper then Amsoil Signature. BUT Amsoil XL is the same price of the Pennzoil and Castrol Synthetic oil.

Thankyou for the unbiased testing! These oils need to be exposed that aren’t what you pay for! If I’m gonna pay 13+ for a couple quarts of oil, I want proven best!

Have you run across any oil additives that enhanced the performance of the most expensive oils? I had used royal purple and noticed it cleaned off the cam I could see in the fill port on the valve cover of my 99 Taurus duratec. This was a surprise to me because I had did a gunk engine flush at 110k miles and it didn't change but after 144k miles I did the royal purple synthetic oil change, checked oil level after it had been in at 500 miles and it was noticeably darker but I could see inside the valve cover that the exhaust cam was definitely clean compared to before the change.

People's thoughts on Castrol 0W-20 vs competition like Mobil & Valvoline? Competition as in what you can buy at Walmart. Wondering for commuter car to elongate life as long as possible. Thanks!

I don't understand why the cooked oils are flowing faster then the uncooked. isn't it better to flow faster? doesn't that represent that the oil will get to the engine parts faster? please help

  • PhOeNiXpIoLe
    PhOeNiXpIoLe   11 months ago

Oh and another idea I’m thinking of is maybe comparing Pennzoil, Valvoline and Castrol products comparing their conventional, semi-synthetic and fully synthetic oil offerings and maybe cross comparison charts as well

Test Idea : tires. I'm always spending a lot on high performance tires and I'd like to know which brand is the best. The price of the tires should be relatively cheap for testing however I have no idea how you would set up the test... so that's where your Ingenuity will come into play I'm sure you can figure it out. we would want to test for flexibility which leads to grip and endurance verses that flexibility such as not wearing out after a month. I think setting up the test will be the most expensive part if you choose to do this.
