I remember that soft, cushy, cool & colorful moss under my bare feet as a little girl growing up in SE TX. My favorite thing about the woods there yet. 💜

The Ginger in the beard comes from the Pictish side. Not much is known of where they came from ( the old ginger nuts) but they carved pictures in their rocks (pictoral). I have the same tint in my beard. Looks like nicotine 😁.

I'm sure you are aware of the Battle of King's Mountain. A Battle of the American Revolution fought entirely by colonist militias. Loyalists from the coastal cities vs Patriots from the hill country. The only English soldier in the battle was the commander of the Loyalists Major Patrick Ferguson.

1970's green shag carpet was once carelessly discarded in land fills and backwoods dumpsites. It now grows as a non-native species in America's forests.

This really made me reminisce about my field days as an Infantryman. This was fantastic. That Forrest is amazing. A sea of green. So peaceful. I also loved the brief history lessons about the place you’re camping in.

I love seeing your video they make me happy and remind me when I used to go hiking camping. Unfortunately I live in México and now you can't really do that because the cartels hide in those areas. Hopefully one day I can do that stuff again.

Hi Luke, yeah Lyme disease ; asan avid outdoorsman hunter fisher camper back packer I got it somehow despite 100% DEET and regular tick checks (was pre all pyrethrin). Was sick for 4 months bouncing from doc to doc until I wound up at a infectious disease tropical medicine doc told him my story he asked about the bulls eye rash told nope never had it never even found the tick. Had the worst joint pain in the world even trying to wear a watch was torment so he sent off the test at that time it had to go to UCON in Old Lyme CT only place that could do it. Two weeks later yup bingo positivehe put me on high dose doxycycline twice a day for a month and it worked I’m fine now. As an RN I’m supposed to know about this stuff just shows how the nah I can’t have that I’m too careful doesn’t work you can never be too careful. This was back in the early 80’s when Lyme wasn’t on most people’s radar. My best to Susan if caught early with high power antibiotics she will probably make out OK.Strength and HonorOlde Tyme Scout

It's like going to a Thai restaurant, if there's more than one chili symbol next to the item, be careful. Korean food can be real good and real hot all at the same time.

Re Swedish stove - noticed the swap out of the Svea/Trangia military burner for the Esbit (presume due to simmer ring on the Esbit). The billy tin though looks like the Mil-tec clone of the Svea/Trangia mess tin - it misses the built in 'D' rings on the handle (used for holding ad hoc trig etc handles to this part of the kit)and the large 'C' shaped mini handle for connecting the handle to a rectangular 'bracket' on the tin itself (used to help pour from the tin). Decent bit of kit. Both the Swedish and Mil-tec are becoming harder to come by on ebay sadly (hoping this fixes itself when more places start opening up post covid).I wouldn't recommend using the frying tin as a lid to the main boiling tin though, as you are essentially steam cleaning the part of the tin that comes into contact with the flame so any residue goes into your water. There are hand made lids available on ebay which look pretty decent which I would use instead (not got around to trying them yet - the seller also makes them for other mess tins). Would also recommend putting foil or similar under the burner to help isolate it from the cold (alcohol burners fare better when warmer).
