Is Lucas better than Pennzoil? Let's find out!

  • Lucas vs Pennzoil and Motul vs Penrite.

I purchased the Pennzoil, Lucas, and Motul oil and 2 very generous viewers sent the Penrite oil to me, since I wasn't able to locate a place that sells it locally. I am not sponsored by Pennzoil, Lucas, Motul, Penrite, or by any product manufacturer. So, thank you very much for requesting this video! In the previous episodes, Amsoil won over Royal Purple, Amazon won over Liqui Moli, Red Line won over Super Tech, and Schaeffer's won over Mobil 1.

The testing methods outlined in this video are my own and not performed using expensive oil lab testing equipment or following the ASTM, SAE or API testing standards. The three tests outlined in the video include tests for viscosity at varying temperatures, film strength, and evaporative testing. In my opinion, the testing approaches used in this video provide consumers with valuable information on choosing the right motor oil for their specific application. I want to see a lawn fertilizer showdown, if only to watch the growth speed results. I believe our P.F. man can make watching grass grow sound exciting. I love the tests done here , and the commentary is great, keeping the viewers interest up from start to finish.

I, too, like how you read the advertising without bias. I've never bought Motul but I see it at the motorcycle shops all the time. About 6000 dollars for a small jug, I usually pass on it, but good to see it's ok.

But what about the superior protection of 100% synthetic oil, which Motul is? Perhaps another test needs to be done, analyzing the oil after thousands of miles for metal content.

One might be faster than the other but how burnt looking it gets looks like that would be more harmful than anything

Just wondering if you ever considered doing a cook, freeze, cook, freeze, several times then do a test to simulate a real torture test on the oils. In my opinion, I haven't really seen an oil that would be an absolutely terrible buy and terrible for the engine as long as it met the API standard. I'd like to see that kind of test as well as a lubricity test on oils that were at the end of their lifespan after draining out of a vehicle. FWIW, I switched to Supertech oil because of your testing, it works as good as others and as long as I do 3k-4k oil changes, I see no harm using it in all of my vehicles. Thanks for putting the time and effort into all your tests! Very very helpful!

This is a shame. I love all other Lucas products especially the upper cyl lubricant and oil additive for older beat cars. I am a Valvoline guy for all oils. I watched all of this and bought the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Put it in my 2012 Jeep Jk and can tell just by seat of pants the Valvoline is better in that engine.

At this point you aren't some dude doing crazy medical experiments to B+S motors any more, you are doing well thought out simulated real world tests on things that effect everyone. Like wiper blades What about wearing lab coat and a American Flag in your intros ? Just an idea.

You should test different synthetic oils in an engine and see how many km/ miles it takes before it needs changing.

I want to start off by saying your synthetic motor oil tournament was one of the most educational video Ive ever watched on YouTube. So I am wondering Mr Project Farm. Did you use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum or Pennzoil Platinum in these tests? On this video it looks like you used Pennzoil Platinum . But in your oil finals video that you took up against Amsoil it looked like you used Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Just trying to figure out whats the better Pennzoil oil. I live in Wisconsin and Amsoil is no where to be found so I wanted to buy your #2 best finisher in the oil tourny.

Like the videos that I've seen. You were asking for future tests. One thing I've always wondered about is motorcycle foam air cleaner oils. I use motor oil but there are expensive oils sold for foam air cleaners. Are they any better than just using motor oil or just a wast of money? Thanks.
