The Reality of Reality: A Tale of Five Senses

  • Published on: 28 September 2019
  • Your eyes and ears don’t tell you the truth. That’s not what they’re for. The senses evolved to enable us to survive and succeed in the world, not to represent it accurately. Now, for the first time, science is revealing exactly how the sense organs receive information, process it, and pass it to the brain, providing deep insight into why we experience the world the way we do—and what it might be like for future technology to transform such experiences, perhaps allowing us to see infrared light or feel magnetic north. Join an eminent group of neuroscientists and philosophers for an ear, tongue, nose and eye-opening adventure that challenges everything we experience in search of the true nature of reality.

PARTICIPANTS: Christine Constantinople, Donald Hoffman, Stavros Lomvardas, Beau Lotto, Anil Seth

    MODERATOR: Elizabeth Vargas

Why do so many speakers from America say "right" so often when they speak? It's as if they're constantly looking for affirmation.

Why don't they have courses based on such a body of knowledge in schools - right from kindergarten? I mean very seriously. It is if we didn't think of it earlier but let's start now.I am grateful to all these good people in the panel and the anchor/hostess as she asked so many important questions.

Next to balance as a sixth sense, we have a seventh too, which is exactly knowing in what 3D position and orientation your limbs are (upper part, lower part, position of toes and fingers) without having to look at it. This is usually called our sixth sense in most other discussions about the big five … it’s named proprioception and is especially important to athletes rather than nerds 😃.

Denial is survival not cure! Martin Luther King even spoke of his anger with the gang sorts. As a white one the gang sorts seemingly have won! I will never forget 9.6 miles of many homes, cars, and lives destroyed because people of gang's could only see their own self and what's going on in their life. I have seen prejudice of all colors. I don't see dark skin as victims, I see them as bullies! As a child I prayed for the second coming of the Spirit God. As a adult I now pray for reinstatement of religious historic teaching removed from public schools in 1962! OUR CHILDREN'S LIVES MATTER! Veterans of many colors fought for religious freedom and freedom for all skin color! 2021 sadly America is land of gang's not freedom! Rights of working women are sliding down hills of narcissistic manipulation and abuse's! Addiction like denial is survival not cure! Department of rehabilitation said sovereign nation land could shoot me in head and nothing could be done!
