The Last Star in the Universe – Red Dwarfs Explained

  • Published on: 31 January 2016
  • The last star in the universe will be a red dwarf. Red dwarfs in general might be great places to look for aliens – or planets for humans to find a new home after our solar system has died.

Most astronomers & astro physicist would now agree that it's best not to settle on a planetary system with a red dwarf star as they tend to flare a lot ,much more than our own sun does & any life forms would have to be highly adaptive to cope with that as any planets would have to deal with the high radiation assoc.with them as well.

if it becomes the size of earth, wouldn't white dwarfs be the smallest star? unless they're not counted as stars? or bc they're still massive just dense?

1 billion years from now we'll fry from the expanding sun? Good, that gives us plenty of time to keep heating up our atmosphere and fry ourselves, or keep choking all oceanic life with plastic until we don't have enough oxygen. We can race them! Like boxcar racing! See which one kills all life first! ANNOUNCER: "Greenhouse-plastic greenhouse- plastic- now it's plastic by a nose and holy cow!!! Whats THIS???? Nuclear armageddon!!!! It came out of NO WHERE! We all FORGOT about that one, but NUCLEAR ARMAGEDDON came in from behind and took the race by a nose! I've never seen anything like it!!!! What a race!!..." Ahhh.... sigh good times.

Here’s the thing. IF humanity lives to the end of the universe, we will likely become a Kardashev Type Three society and we could theoretically create new stars by breaking elements down into hydrogen and taking it far far away from the black holes that would be prevalent.

The fact that every star in the universe will die and the universe will just be a dark lifeless place is very unlikely. After a star died it either becomes a black hole or it’s material becomes a nebula cloud where a new star will be born. Knowing this, there will always be a new star to replace a dead one.
