The government should've given them some aid with this and redistribute them to less fortunate citizens across the country.

So you're telling me, instead of sending these excessive potatoes to 3rd world countries for a good cause, you'd rather bury them and still complain its excess?? i swear to God, these people are ridiculous

I'm so sorry :( I blame the Chinese Communist Party. To be clear I don't blame the Chinese people because they are some of the first that have suffered at the hands of their government but we must not forget COVID-19 or the Chinese Communist Party Virus was unleased on the world because of the Chinese Community Party.

OMG - Not enough food around the world and all over our country. The US still has close to 45 million unemployed and with more states closing restaurants etc., the future for millions in our country is fraught with uncertainty. We must address the issues in the supply distribution so these food dumps can be prevented. There has to be a win/win in this. With the Covid 19 raging we must be smart and innovative.

The USDA has crop insurance and they also have crop disaster assistance for non-insured farmers. The federal government can also buy surplus crops from farmers and distribute them to those in need across the country, when supply chains breakdown. Now, I won't pretend that I know all the pitfalls and challenges of a farming business, but I also don't know many businesses where there isn't a risk to reward ratio. These programs should be afforded to Farmers as they play an important role in our economy and we want to encourage that, but the risk to reward ratio seems very low to me and it's hard for me to feel too bad for them when there are many other businesses out there that don't and haven't received an ounce of the backing that they do from the federal government.

Why not just give the excess potatoes to local people in need during the pandemic as charity? Instead of throwing them away.

Imagine how easy it is to literally give these potatoes to people in need of food. Ending hungry in the world is so easy but we simply don’t care enough to fix the issue.

Damn, you know how many chips those could’ve been turned into : (

    BIRUNGI SAMUEL   7 hours ago

I'm sure millions of hungry or even starved people could use those potatoes. WHO or UNICEF could buy that stuff if a much cheaper price is quoted.
