I only use shells nitro gasoline because it is better. I also use Redlines fuel system cleaner every oil change to help keep everything cleaner. Redline has the highest percentage of PEA cleaner in it.

There's a reason that the manufacturers of many popular and luxury cars recommend only using TOP TIER gasoline in their cars. Shell 93 octane is one of them.

Hey mate, you won't see any better economy unless the ecu can take advantage of the octane by adding more timing advance. Advancing the timing makes a world of difference in some vehicles

Those low compression engines dont really benefit from higher octane fuel. They're designed to run on anything

You sir, are a brave soul. I'm glad that gas that overflowed while testing the generator wasn't ignited by the heater somehow!

Saw an ad today about "BP amoco ultimate" or something like that getting 25mpgs more than normal gas. That would be an interesting test.

He's using one of the most inefficient engines to test performance increase with a premium fuel... WHY? It should start much easier, but other than that...

If anyone goes in the Shell website. They claim it takes 10,000 miles to reduce carbon buildup. They can't add a high ratio of detergents. Due to engine oil dilution from piston blow by and upper cylinder wall area.

I learned to use top tier gas. On my car if i run non top tier gas for too long the check engine light comes on. This is because of the carbon buildup on the gas tank sensor. About every 6 weeks or so i run a bottle of Regane in it..Since ive been doing ( about 2 years now) my check eng hasnt come on..

purchased a 2003 Hyundai Sonata brand new in 2003 with 7 miles. The car now has over 484,000 miles and I am still the original owner. The majority of gasoline has been 87 octane from ARCO. There has been no major work on the engine and I drive it daily. Thanks Hyundai for making such a reliable product! Regards, Steve (LA, CA)

Wouldn't this be a fairer test with a high compression engine, i.e. engine needs high octane fuel?

It used to be a known thing here(South Africa), "Shell fuel always lasts a bit longer than all the others". And when i first heard it i thought it was rubbish, till i tested it myself. Found that i could get an extra 70-100kms on a tank. Kept testing that theory too as i wasnt sure if i was just playing tricks on myself- over and over again i tested from about 2016-2019. But sure enough, it always did last a bit longer, untill 2020- since when, its gives about the same or less mileage than all the other brands........what changed....

Certainly would have liked a fairer, more relevant high performance testing. Ie....Shell V-Power vs Marathon....Speedway...Circle K...etc. I only run Shell and Marathon in my '19 Type R and would like to know how they compare to a basic/ not top tier 93oct.Obviously would need more than your mower to test that performance application though....

Love your stuff. This is the first time I had a comment on your method of testing. When you did the generator w the high end stuff first you could have cleaned it for the cheap gas test. Just my 2 cents.Keep up the good work.

In my car, it really does make a difference. Not in performance, but it really helps in reducing engine knock. I've got a high horsepower twin turbo BMW 335i and when teamed with a colder spark plug, it really helps. I only ever buy V-Power (98 RON) or Tesco Momentum (99 RON) here in the UK 🇬🇧

I'd love to see a video where you adjust timing on the motor to show people what happens when a motor detonates, and then show them how super allows you to run more timing and make more power. I know a lot of peopke who think super and regular are the same thing and it's just a scam

You'll never see any fuel economy benefit in using premium fuel in an engine designed to burn 87 octane. The ignition timing has to correspond with the fuel the engine is designed for. This test confirms that.
