Traveling Back in Time

  • Published on: 01 November 2019
  • Is it possible to go backwards through time? We travel forwards every day, but traveling back could let us change our past, visit old friends, or manipulate the timeline to our benefit... Although our knowledge of space and time remains incomplete, we can still use what we know to consider possible time machines. But what kind of paradoxes would this entail and how can we resolve them? Join us today on a special journey through time.

i am not that educated but i get real confused at about 16.04 and beyond… because… i thought time IS entropy more or less, as in that time does not exist except seen from a beholder (or any given reference point) watching entropy enfold? i thought this is why we cannot travel through time, because it simply does not exist as a dimension in this fashion, it is a byproduct of entropy, when entropy is consciously observed and experienced through a relative perceiver, creating the more or less illusion of being a dimension in itself, while it is not? and now you talk about entropy as if it is this phenomena that exists within time…. i don’t get this. 😣

Time travel even forward comes at a cost. To move through time we have to leave what is and was behind. If you could go back for any reason would you abandon everything that is and if so is this not selfish and destructive of all that will no longer be. The fact that you exist in a time means that it exists and to go back does not make it no longer exist as you were part of that time and still exist. Lets say you could go back in time and you do so to save a loved one. You would be abandoning the loved one you already lost for your desire to feel like they are still here but would only get an extremely close duplicate but never the same one. It is simple and selfish to assume something that you come from doesn't matter as long as it can take a form that pleases you now. Moving forward is the only way to be with the ones we've lost because they are not in the past anymore they only were there and are now with us. Moving forward is just the only way to be. Everything works the way it does for reasons and contemplating them like this shows how important they are.

Great video, but I have a problem - I didn't understand why would the photon travelling across those two wormholes duplicate itself.

The real problem is that there is NO past! Whatever it once was, it has evolved into what we call the present. Therefore, If I were to travel back to the time of my birth-there would be two of me-which cannot be. Or how about this? There are several million atoms in my body that were once part of Julius Caesar-if I showed up in 20 BC-would I be part of him? Conservation of mass argues against time travel... and events cannot precede causes. My physical being resulted from an act between two persons (my parents); how could I exist before these two existed?

Beautiful, thank you sir. I always wonder, why do scientists always look at time travel, multiple dimensions and simulations? This here reality that we are in is the only reality that matters to us anyway, why try to find other ones. The term Infinite Dimensions in itself disproves both infinity and dimensions, as a perfect dimension like our's probability to exist would be infinity to one, which is one --- this reality.

Free Will is an illusion. Behavior is dictated by decision. Decision is dictated by how you felt about the choices. How you feel about the choices is dictated by something you don't control: the structure, neurochemistry.... the.... capability of your brain. You will never act smarter than you are. You will never have the thoughts of "god". You will never make a decision based on information you're incapable of knowing. Your resulting behavior is absolutely controlled and limited. And I can hear someone thinking or about to say: "But James, we decide how we feel about something."Tell me then, what was it that caused you to decide to feel happy, sad, or angry about something? What was the tie breaker? The ironic answer is that it's how comfortable you felt when considering each of those emotions... Emotion still dictated your path even in that scenario. The crux of the matter is that decision making requires some sort of bias. Without something feeling more important or satisfying you would be left in indecision... animate... and most certainly dead.

    1. Do two dimensions and one dimensions exist? We can percieve 2 dimensions, however everything in the universe is at least 3D, are subparticles uni or bidimendional.2. Do non dimensional space exist?Could anything exist without dimensions? How is that existing?

It occurs to me the Many Worlds Interpretation solves all temporal paradoxes and explains why we have no evidence of time travelers ever visiting us….With Many Worlds a time traveler's arrival in the past should instantly create a new branch of reality where a time traveler arrived. So not an alternate time line, but an alternate universe where nothing the traveler did would ever effect the future he left. It also has the consequence that the time traveler could never return to the future he left because his attempt to return would also create a new branch of realities. This means only universes created by time travel, have time travel. From the point of view of universes like ours without time travel all time travel attempts would appear end in failure. No traveler from our future can ever visit us to show time travel is possible. Oh, and...I don’t I buy Many Worlds actually is right, but Copenhagen’s most likely wrong too….So, you know, whatever🙄

If to go back in time is to travel the speed of light or faster then how on earth would you travel to the future you can't go slower than stationary lol

This is my theory: People theorize we want to time travel, but I don’t think time traveling will ever be accomplished because of how dangerous it is. If time travel is created in the future, we would have already seen the effects like the party Steven Hawkings made to see if time travelers would visit, nobody came.OR Our timeline is currently FRESH, unaffected and untouched and time travelers still doesn’t exist because we haven’t reached that point for the first time and when the first machines are created that is when our timeline will be affected

DOES TIME BEND SPATIALLY?...YES YES YES IT DOES....If TIME IS INTRINSICALLY WOVEN THROUGH SPACE....ISN'T IT ALSO INTRINSICALLY WOVEN TO TO THE 4 FUNDAMENTAL FORCES? YES IT IS. IF TIME IS THE 4TH DIMENSION....WOULDN'T THAT MEAN TIME IS 4TH DIMENSIONAL? WOULDN'T THAT ALSO LEAVE YOU WITH MATHEMATICAL PROOFS THAT LEAVE YOU WITH LOGICAL INCONSISTENCIES LIKE: " WHAT IS THE SQUARE ROOT OF CAUSALITY? WHAT IS THE CUBE ROOT OF RELATIVITY? ILL GIVE YOU A HINT....IT SOTRA KINDA ABSOLUTELY MAKES SENSE THAT WHEN YOU THINK IN OF TIME IN THIS WAY, PROVABLE FUNCTIONS LIKE THE SCHRODINGER EQUATION AND HEISENBERG UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE, SPOOKY ACTION AT A DISTANCE...NOT ONLY ARE NOT WEIRD...THEY'RE INEVITABLE.ONETHING IS CERTAIN....AS OF RIGHT NOW QUANTUM TIME AND RELATIVE TIME....EVEN THE CONCEPT OF GRAVITY ITSELF, DO NOT MIX....WE ARE NOT DONE WHEN IT COMES TO OUR UNDERSTANDING OF PHYSICS.

i want to go all the way back to july-august (this year), so i could stop my ex-friends from attacking and insulting the ones who left me. i also want to prevent myself from talking shit about them without meaning it. you may something w/o meaning it, but words do have meanings. using certain types of words can hurt the person you’re talking about/to.but i chose to stick with my toxic ex-friends while i could, i eventually confronted and cancelled them. this happened august 17, 2021. yesterday, the most toxic of my ex-friends sent one of the people she attacked screenshots of me saying mean things about her and her friends. the words i didn’t mean. i cried uncontrollably in the car with my mom after school, and she almost threw my phone out the window for how i was crying over an online person ruining my reputation. i left everything related to my former friends (the ones who got attacked) and stuck with my safe ones.but really, why did my ex-friend bring up the shit when it happened at least a month ago? and why couldn’t the ones that got insulted understand that people can change? it’s what i said about them when i confronted my ex-friends they learned from their mistakes and are no longer that way. that’s what happened to me, i learned you can’t let anyone take advantage of your kindness to do what you want. but i never told my “friend” that part when i argued with her. i didn’t tell her about learning about not using all of my kindness on people that can’t be trusted, to step up when you have an opinion, to step up when you want someone to STOP.

I FIGURED OUT TIME TRAVEL: To travel forward in time, travel near the speed of light. To travel back in time, slow travel speed to zero. Freeze your molecules so they don't progress forward. Time will move forward but you will be still. When you wake up, you will be in the... nevermind.

Falacies: 1) "Nothing in the Theory says we can't go back in time. This fact ... ." If it is theoretical it is NOT a fact. 2) According to Steven Hawking, time travel to the past is impossible because it violates the First Law of Thermodynamics - the conservation of mass and energy. A mass - your body and time machine - suddenly appearing in another reality ... well who knows what would happen but it violates the First Law. 2) No meaningful discussion of time can be had without including the idea of space - it is SPACETIME after all. If you could actually travel only through time 1000 years into the past you would end up in empty space because the Solar System is moving through space at high speeds. 3) Time travels in one direction only because it is, in practice, a measure of Entropy, The Second Law of Thermodynamics (Brian Greene). Entropy runs in only one direction, thus Time runs in only one direction. What effect of the Entropy we have degraded through have on travelling into a past which has lower Entropy? Moreover if Time runs in only one direction, how can we swim upstream to a "time" with lower entropy? The amount of energy lost from entropic decay would have to be added to the energy required to drill a hole through spacetime.I have been suspect of the credibility of this channel and these fallacies increase my suspicion. Instead of actually addressing the SCIENCE you have offered a presentation which is more science fiction than science. Fine for the true believer who cannot think nor has the background to see through your poetic BS but someone who wants to learn something real and substantial .... well, somehow I doubt I will pay much attention to your questionable content in the future.

Time has no Backups , Time is not material product. We can only feel time in a moment in which we live, after that moment passed time just vanished. There is Only Way and that is to bring Sun back like evening to Noon or Noon back to Morning. But only in Same Day.
